These tiles are handmade, and some may be more rustic than others. It is rare to find a trace of a chicken or other animal roaming in these tiles. This tile comes in two types, room design Mexican, or rounded edge, which is slightly less expensive, or Spanish or Italian room design Saltillo tile, which is denser and harder. Choose old world style finishes for an authentic look of Southwest cuisine. Avoid appearing too polished surfaces such as chrome or satin nickel. Copper or oil rubbed bronze room design finishes are better choices. These finishes look great on cabinet hardware and lighting fixtures and plumbing.
Stay with stainless steel appliances. These act as a neutral background and blend with any type of cuisine. For a more traditional look, try Aga appliances, which have rounded edges and give a vintage look. Avoid bright white appliances.
